What is my ISP?

The internet provider and network (ASN) your connection is coming from, detected from your public IP address.

Your internet provider

…

What websites see

Every website you visit sees this IP address and can estimate your city, provider and connection type from it.

IPv4 or IPv6?

If you see an address with colons, you are connected over IPv6. Most networks now support both.

ISP, ASN and IP address

  • ISP: the company that connects you to the internet.
  • ASN: the number of the network that announces your IP address to the rest of the internet.
  • IP address: your connection’s address within that network.

Websites use this information to detect fraud, show local content and recognise company networks. The ipbase API returns the ISP and ASN of any IP address.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out who my internet provider is?

This page shows it instantly: every public IP address belongs to a network (an autonomous system) operated by a provider. We look up the network of your current IP address.

Why does it show a different provider than the one I pay?

Smaller providers often rent network capacity from larger carriers, and VPNs, mobile hotspots and company networks route your traffic through their own provider. The tool shows the network your traffic actually comes from.

What is an ASN?

An autonomous system number identifies a network on the internet, for example AS7922 for Comcast or AS3320 for Deutsche Telekom. Look up any network with the ASN lookup.
